Spruce Street Mansion

Spruce Street Mansion is believed to be the oldest brick home that still exists in Boulder. It also is known for being one of the only homes that still remains within the original Boulder Townsite borders. It was constructed in 1875 and was the home of one of the most prominent families in the city's early years. Throughout the decades, several prominent families called this mansion their own. Today, it is the home of the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and other area businesses.

Chautauqua Auditorium

The Chautauqua Auditorium was built more than 100 years ago to be a performance venue, and it is still hosting artists and musicians from around the world. This auditorium is unique because there is no central heating or cooling system. As such, performances are only scheduled in the auditorium from May through September. Summer visitors should certainly put a performance at this venue on their itinerary, as its acoustics are outstanding. Both residents and travelers alike are impressed by this venue, but they are particularly surprised to find out it was built in just 45 days in the late 19th century. Despite its quick construction, the building has stood the test of time and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1970s.

Another famous home on Spruce Street is the Squires-Tourtellot House, which has the distinction of being the oldest surviving home in Boulder. In fact, the walls inside this home are 20-inches thick. It was placed on the National Register in the 1970s as well.
